Background

A member of the Boyar class by birth, Andrei's father is the feudal lord of the farming region known as Rusu. The second eldest of three sons, Andrei's own path in life has seen fit to allow him to raise a wealth of some merit, running an estate that contributes grains, wheats and timber to both the feudal obligations in Suceava, as well as being able to sell excess to far flung Kyiv and towards the coastal regions and inward destinations. Stalwart and sensible, Andrei is keen to foster prosperity for all in his custodianship, as well as maintain a secure life for his wife and their two children, one boy and one girl. His own holding, a modest house with a small staff, is situated on the edge of Rusu, serfs tilling the lands and ensuring his contribution to the general tithes are met. His orthodoxy is of some note but holds no particular sway over his decision making. Within the confines of the church, his is a life of progress and entrepreneurship.

Role in the chronicle

Earnest and steadfast, Andrei seeks to be a mover and shaker for his region, fulfilling his birthrite and ensuring prosperity is maintain for his descendants. He will long to make shrewd choices that benefit all, maintaining some symapthies for those in his stewardship. His sense of right and wrong is key to his pragmatic approach to the harsh and often short life that his countrymen endure at this time.
