Quick Character Creation Guide for Endless Nights

This guide accommodates Dark Ages: Vampire, Werewolf, Mage, and Inquisitor characters, ensuring a consistent yet flexible creation process.

THIS IS FOR A QUICK REMINDER ON CHARACTER SHEETS, NOT BIOGRAPHIES OR PROFILES.

Step 1: Concept, Faction, Nature, and Demeanor

  • Concept: Define your character's role in the world. Examples include thief, scholar, knight, mystic, heretic hunter, or hermit.
  • Faction: Choose your supernatural identity:
    • Mortal: You are free to choose as you please what you want.
    • Vampire: Select a Clan or Bloodline.
    • Werewolf: Choose Tribe and Auspice.
    • Mage: Select a Tradition or magical approach (e.g., Hermetic, Hedge Wizard, Craft).
    • Inquisitor: Align with an order or the Church.
  • Nature & Demeanor: Select two Archetypes to represent your inner self and outward behavior (e.g., Visionary, Rebel, Judge).

Step 2: Attributes (Physical, Social, Mental)

Allocate dots to each Attribute. Then rank the categories by importance (Primary, Secondary, Tertiary):

  • Primary: Distribute 7 dots.
  • Secondary: Distribute 5 dots.
  • Tertiary: Distribute 3 dots.

Step 3: Abilities (Talents, Skills, Knowledges)

Rank the categories by importance (Primary, Secondary, Tertiary):

  • Primary: Distribute 13 dots.
  • Secondary: Distribute 9 dots.
  • Tertiary: Distribute 5 dots.
Note: No Ability may exceed 5 dots at this stage.

Step 4: Supernatural Traits and Backgrounds

  • Supernatural Traits:
    • Vampire: Assign 4 dots to Disciplines, 7 to Virtues (1 free dot in each), and note your Road.
    • Werewolf: Assign 3 dots to Gifts, and note starting Rage, Gnosis, and Willpower (based on Tribe and Auspice).
    • Mage: Assign 3 dots to Spheres (no more than 2 dots in any one Sphere initially).
    • Inquisitor: Assign 7 Virtue dots (1 free in each) and select unique powers (Faith, Tainted powers, or relics).
    • Mortal: Assign 7 Virtue Dots, (1 dot in each for free)
  • Backgrounds: All characters allocate 5 dots among relevant Backgrounds (e.g., Allies, Resources, Status).

Step 5: Finishing Touches

  1. Health: Determine starting Health (all equal at the beginning).
  2. Willpower:
    • Vampire and Inquisitor: Equals Courage.
    • Werewolf: Determined by Tribe.
    • Mage: Equals Resolve + Composure (or the Chronicle's equivalent).
  3. Road, Path, or Morality:
    • Vampires select a Road and calculate its starting rating based on Conscience/Conviction and Self-Control/Instinct.
    • Other characters start with Humanity (or an equivalent Morality system).
  4. Freebie Points: Spend 7 dots to customize:

Faction-Specific Notes

  • Vampire: Select Clan/Bloodline and Disciplines tied to it. Factor in Generation and weaknesses.
  • Werewolf: Choose a Tribe, Auspice, and Breed. Note Gifts and Rage/Gnosis mechanics.
  • Mage: Focus on magical Spheres and a Paradigm (worldview of magic). Determine starting Quintessence and Paradox tolerance.
  • Inquisitor: Prioritize Virtues and unique powers such as relics or Faith-based abilities. Align with an inquisitorial order or secular role.
